The family friendly cottages are well equipped self contained, self catering gites in the beautiful charente maritime region of SW France. They are spacious with modern bathrooms and kitchens but retain their rustic character with exposed original beams and thick stone walls. All the cottages have garden table and chairs with parasol and barbecue. The family friendly swimming pool is completely enclosed for safety and alarmed. Sit back on your terrace and relax with a glass of locally produced chilled pineau, whilst your children play safely within view. Two cottages face the garden (ideal for families with younger children and toddlers) and two face the pool (ideal for teens). The spacious bathrooms have bath and shower, toilet and sink and plenty of constant hot water and excellent pressure. We believe we are perfectly located to visit the whole of the Poitou Charente region. and as the name Charente Maritime suggests we are just an easy one hour drive to all the coastal resorts from La Rochelle to Royan with all the fantastic beaches in between. It is also just one hour or less to Poitiers and Futuroscope, Angouleme, Niort and all the other great historic towns in the area. With Cognac and Saintes even closer you just couldn't ask for a more perfect location. We are right in the countryside on the edge of the rural hamlet of Puy de Brette, nestled in a valley between a gently rolling landscape. There are views over fields filled with crops such as sunflowers and wheat when in season. The quiet country lanes are ideal for cycling and walking. The night sky is amazing. Locally there is tennis, golf, horseriding, fishing, weekly markets, superb restaurants and lots of country walks. Yet you are only a 10 min drive from St Jean d'Angely, historic town with cobbled streets, twice weekly food market, restaurants (ranging from family friendly pizzerias and bistros to top class gourmet cuisine) bars, supermarkets and banks. We are different to other properties, not only because we have been here for 13 years and so we are truly integrated into the local community and know just what our guests are looking for, but also because, with Chris' knowledge of wine (he worked in the wine industry in our 'previous life') we can offer exclusive wine related activities. We hold regular professional wine tastings and family vine walks and guided visits to a local wine and cognac producer. Guest comment 2008 '' we enjoyed the set up of the four gites with the shared pool; it made it for our kids as there were always some others around for them to play with. The provision of the cot, steriliser and toys and even bath toys, was great - very child friendly and saves one bringing these bulky items with you. The evenings ere also sociable for the adults.'' |
