Entering through the front door you arrive in a large comfortable sitting room (5.x 5 metres) with open fireplace. Logs are provided for your use and you can relax in front of the wood burning stove with a good book. English/French television, vedios, books and games all available. From the sitting room you enter the light and airy fully fitted kitchen (5 x 3.2 metres). It has a gas oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and a full set of kitchen tools, crockery and glassware. By the window looking out onto farmland is the dining table. On sunny days this is a beautiful and warm spot to have breakfast or lunch. Also accessed from the sitting room is a back kitchen/scullery with sink and washing machine. This area is great for keeping wet coats, boots or perhaps even a wet dog. A separate shower and WC are also in this area. This is also the way into the large garden and the patio with barbecue ideal for an evening aperitif or for an al fresco dinner. Up the stairs from the sitting room the landing leads to two bedrooms. The first (5 x 3.5 metres) is a lovely bright sunny room with double bed and plenty of wardrobe space for two. It has super views over the valley of the river Soulle The second bedroom ( 5 x 2.7 metres) has two single beds. Both have ample room for a cot or child's bed if required. The bedrooms have access along the landing to the new bathroom fitted with shower, basin and WC. The weekly rental includes bed linen. There is a welcome pack with local produce and organic eggs and vegetables are available from the English bi-lingual owners on site. Cot, high chair, play-pen on request. Well-behaved dog welcome. |

Activities Whether you just want to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful farmland of La Manche or prefer to be out and about being active, La Gaublotiere has lots to offer. There are miles of unspoilt sandy beaches within a 20 minute drive of the house. The nearest village has an excellent pony club offering rides or lessons at all levels. The area is ideal for walking or biking with many villages having official sign-posted circuits varying from 5 to 15 kilometres. For those who really want to trek there are many kilometres of well-maintained tracks from which to plan a day's excursion. One hour away are the magnificent coastal walks of La Hague. You can course fish or even catch a trout, in the river Soulles from the owner's banks (permit required). Sea fishing will yield bass, mackerel etc. Join the other holiday makers at low tide for "pêche a pied" (low water fishing) to bring home cockles, mussels, rock oysters, shrimps etc. There are 9, 18 and 27 hole golf courses within easy reach and others (Omaha Beach) about an hour away. Green fees are from 20 to 40 €. Historic Sites/French Culture The nearest town is Coutances (a 10 minute drive away) where you will find shops, restaurants, bars, banks and an impressive 13th century cathedral. The Bayeux tapestry, the D-Day landing beaches, the Mont St. Michel, the medieval town of Villedieu and the port of Granville are all within easy reach. There are also numerous smaller abbeys and Chateaux and museums to visit. Local produce such as cider, Calvados, cheese, sausage and fresh fish and seafood are a feature of the numerous markets held every week. Day trips to the Channel Islands and the Chausey islands are available from the port of Granville. Location Midway between the towns of Coutances (10 mins) and St. Lô (20 mins).
