Set in the picturesque rolling countryside of the Ste. Foy Bordeaux wine region, Mauberts is a superbly restored stone house which has been finished and furnished to a high standard. Conveniently located approximately 5 minutes by car from Ste.Foy la Grande, on the Dordogne – Mauberts is within easy distance of both the heart of the Dordogne valley, with its breathtaking views and its numerous tourist attractions, and in the other direction, the beautiful city of Bordeaux. Just beyond Bordeaux is the fantastic Atlantic coastline, which boasts the highest sand dunes in Europe and some of the best beaches. Ste. Foy La Grande is a lovely example of a Bastide or Fortified town and boasts an array of excellent restaurants catering for all tastes and pockets. It also hosts a superb bustling and colourful Saturday morning market as well as all the usual amenities; supermarkets, banks etc. The house itself is set in a peaceful location to the side of a quiet country lane. The front of the house looks onto the swimming pool and open fields and woods beyond. In the immediate surrounding area are acres of vines, trees, rolling fields and sunflowers. The 10m x 5m swimming pool has roman style steps at the shallow end The pool is surrounded by terracing, with underwater lights, loungers and parasols. The pool is also fenced, which is an important factor for families with young children. To the side of the house is a large open barn which houses the table tennis and BBQ facilities. The inside accommodation is tiled throughout. The kitchen/dining room is a large, light, open plan room with windows to the South and to the West. There is plenty of preparation space with a central working surface/breakfast bar down the centre of the room. The units are hand made in light oak and are of a very high quality. There is a washing machine, microwave, large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. This room also has a beautiful stone fireplace, an antique side board and long refectory table seating 8 people comfortably. There is a long hallway which has a shower room and a separate toilet leading off it. The large living room looks out across to the garden and pool. There are sofa's and a television with satellite TV (Euro News and Euro Sport), and a CD player. To the upstairs there are 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 with double beds and 2 with twin beds, a further bathroom with a bath and a separate toilet. On the landing are comfy chairs and a coffee table. |

Just over an hour’s drive away is the lively city of Bordeaux and a little further on are the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast with the the highest sand dunes in Europe. In the other direction you will find the centre of the Dordogne valley with it’s incredible scenery, cliffside Chateaux, fortresses and riverside towns and villages, All are easily visited on a day trip. Places to go, things to do and see in the area:-. Discover and explore many of the Bastide towns in the area Watch the local towns burst into colourful life on Market days; Ste. Foy la Grande, Bergerac, Miramont, Issegeac, to name but a few. Swimming Lake at St. Sernin de Duras with water-slides, beach, pedaloes, horse riding, crazy golf, fishing, moto-cross, bars and restaurant. Chateau de Vigiers Country Club - luxury golf club with hotel and restaurants - holiday membership available. Wine tasting at one of the local vineyards; Côtes de Duras, Bordeaux Superior, Bergerac and Entre Deux Mers. Walking & Cycling - follow the quiet country lanes through the rolling fields of vines, orchards and sunflowers and stop at a sleepy village bar for ice-creams or a long cool beer. Canoeing down the Dordogne or the Lot Rivers Visit the famous wine areas of St. Emilion and Monbazzillac, both a very short drive away, with hilltop vineyards, super views and Chateau.
