THE CHATEAU GARDEN
A tranquil and very private setting, the two and a half acre garden is surrounded by a clipped hedge. The large heated swimming pool (18ft x 36ft) has panoramic views from the poolside and shade under the nut trees. New Tennis Court.

The 100ft terrace overlooks the South West garden so you can enjoy the sunsets across the valley.

In May and June the area is full of wild flowers and the orchards are in full blossom. The grape picking season is late September/October when it can be as hot as July/August. If you are not restricted to school holiday periods May/June Sept/Oct is a beautiful time to visit the South West.

THE BUILDING & ITS HISTORY
The site dates back to Roman times while most of the building dates from the 15th century and is considered a local historic monument, with interesting features and signs of fortification from the 100 years war.

Previous owners include the Marquis de Seville and the Duc de Duras. During the 16th century the Chateau is associated with the family of Paul Revere, the American patriot made famous in the poem by Longfellow. The accommodation is very spacious. All the rooms are large – lots of comfort and space for 10 or so people to enjoy. On very hot days it is cool and comfortable inside.

The Chateau is for your exclusive use. The property is managed by a local resident who is British and who lives close to the Chateau; he is at hand to help. Cleaning is undertaken on Saturdays when bed linen and towels are changed.

The courtyard (90ft x 90ft) is enclosed by sandstone buildings; a barn, stables, a loggia and two towers. The courtyard is gravelled and the entrance to the courtyard has large imposing gates and ornamental stone columns. The courtyard loggia is a perfect area for dining by candlelight.

There are 6 separate places to eat – the front courtyard, the large kitchen table ( seats up to 14 ), the formal dining hall, the conservatory, under the loggia or on the rear terrace facing the pool.
