The village is very well maintained with the River Payroux running through it. It has a plan d'eau (man made lake) and park, a small sports stadium, tennis court and church. There is a fresh fish stall every thursday morning. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, with a nationally designated trail nearby. Also within easy reach is the River Vienne for water activities, some excellent restaurants, Poitiers, Cognac, various chateaux and the coast. The nearest market town is Charroux (10 kilometres) which has a small market every week. Civray is a few kilometres further on, a little larger and also has a larger market every Tuesday & Friday. The racing circuit of Le Vigeant (fourth largest in France)is 10 kilometres away, near L'Isle Jordain. The cottages, which are available for let individually or collectively, are all stone built with a wealth of exposed beams. They have been lovingly restored to incoporate the best of their traditional features. They are furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard and all include microwaves, dishwashers, fridge/freezers and free to air satellite television. Lavender Cottage Well equipped kitchen, lounge/diner with door to terrace, double sofa bed, dining area. Double bedroom with ensuite shower and wc. This cottage has no steps/stairs, wide sliding doors to bedroom and shower room, and low level light switches. Rose Cottage Three bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twin, shower room and separate wc. Large lounge/diner with double sofa bed, doors to terraces. Well equipped kitchen and further separate wc. Camellia Cottage Three bedrooms, all with en-suite shower and separate w.c. 1 double on ground floor, 1 double plus single bed & cot, 1 twin with double sofa bed. Large open plan kitchen/diner/lounge, with soft seating, additional sofa bed, large dining table, television, door to terrace. |

| Location | Swimming is available either on site in the pool or at the open air pool in Civray & L'Isle Jourdain. The River Vienne has facilities for sailing, canoeing and water skiing at L'Isle Jourdain. Bungee jumping is also available at L'Isle Jourdain from a disused railway viaduct high above the River Vienne. | |

| How to get here | Easy access from the ports of Calais, Le Havre, Cherbourg, Caen and St. Malo. Travelling time varies between 5.5 and 7 hours depending on the port used. Full details are provided following confirmation of booking. Low cost airlines fly from various UK airports to the nearby airports of Poitiers and Limoges where hire cars are available. | |
