Hameau des Martres is set outside the rural village of Le Gicq in the Charente Maritime department of the Poitou Charente in western France. An easy drive to the coast and beaches yet set in a stunning location, completely surrounded by open fields. The cottage sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a childrens single room. It has a full modern bathroom with bath and shower attachment, basin and toilet, with loads of hot water and excellent pressure. The cottage is stylishly decorated and furnished in a modern style since it has so far only been used by the owners family. It does however retain its 200 yr old charm and character with its charentaise fireplace, exposed stone walls and original oak beams. The spacious kitchen area has plenty of cupboard space and worktop and is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, gas oven, grill, 4 ring hob, toaster and microwave plus all crockery and cutlery reqired for a comfortable self catering holiday. There are two leather sofas and a dining table for 5 in the open plan downstairs. It has off road parking and a spacious front terrace area for outdoor dining with garden table, chairs, parasol and barbecue. The large 12m by 5m swimming pool with underwater lighting and beach style entrance is completely enclosed with a 1m20 high wall and also has an alarm for extra security so fully conforms to the French pool regulations. It has two gates which both have child safe locks. There is a covered terrace adjacent to the pool perfect for pre dinner drinks or for the children to play in the shade. There is a huge terrace are for sunbathing and has beautifully exotic plantings all around. The views are simply stunning and the unspoilt sunsets incredible. There is a large field with trees at the rear, a perfect place for the children to play in safety. This is the first year this unique property has been made available to let since unfortunately for the owners they are unable to visit this year. It may not be available again. |

Still an easy drive to the coast and beaches and the local town is just 10 mins away with a supermarket, weekly market, shops, bars and restaurants. Perfect for walks, cycling and RELAXING !
