The house has been renovated over the last few years with vision and originality and it provides the perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday. On the ground floor there is a large lounge with fireplace, a well-equipped, country kitchen/dining room, bathroom and bedroom with double bed.There is a staircase from this bedroom which leads to a separate sleeping area which has twin beds. Upstairs on the mezzanine floor there is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. A covered courtyard with table and chairs leads to the poolside studio, which has two singles and one double bed, bathroom, small kitchen and lounge. The terrace outside the studio adjoins the 10 X 5 metre pool and overlooks the beautiful, large, wooded garden which provides plenty of space for children to play. Out of Season - La Maison de L’Artiste is available for Winter and out of season lettings. Low Season Rate: GBP £400.00 per week includes heating and electricity. Rate negotiable for for 2 or more weeks. Rate for Christmas & Easter available on application. |

La Maison de L'Artiste is situated in the Pays Mellois in Poitou Charentes, South West France. This is an easy day’s drive from the Channel ports and bordered by the market towns of Couhé and Lezay to the north and Chef-Boutonne and Sauzé-Vaussais to the south. It is an area rich in history and culture and, due to its mini climate, this is claimed to be the second sunniest region in France. It offers a wealth of attractions and places of interest for young and old. Within easy range can be found the historic port of La Rochelle, the unique canal system of Le Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), the famous cinematic theme park of Futuroscope near Poitiers, the valleys of the Vienne and Charente rivers and, for the children, the ever-popular Valley of the Monkeys. For wine lovers the region is ideally situated mid way between the Loire valley and the vineyards of Bordeaux and the spiritual delights of Cognac are only a short drive away. For those keen on golf there are exceptionally beautiful, and reasonable, courses at Les Forges, Mazière, Cognac, Angouleme and Poitiers. There are facilities for tennis, fishing, canoeing and horse riding close by, and the gently undulating countryside makes it ideal for cycling. If you enjoy your food there are some outstanding regional specialities in the nearby restaurants; foie gras, duck, the wonderful array of fresh sea food, and the excellent local cheeses. |

| How to get here |
The Poitou-Charentes region is very well served from the channel ports by motorways and fast main roads. The journey time for all the above, except St Malo, has been reduced by the construction of the A28 motorway from Rouen via Alencon and Le Mans to Tours; this has the added advantage of avoiding Paris. From Tours you join the A10 to bring you down to Poitiers and then the rest of the journey is on dual carriageweay until you arrive within a few minutes of the properties. If you enjoy overnight crossings then a morning arrival at St Malo will leave you only a four hour drive to the holiday accommodation via Rennes and Nantes. Over the last few years the number of flights to this area has increased enormously and several new airports have opened up for International flights. Car hire is available from all French airports to complete the journey to your gite. Poitiers is the nearest airport to the house. Another option is to take a flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle and then catch a TGV direct to Poitiers station or you can, with one change, travel by train from London to Poitiers. |
