A well equipped house in the foothills of the Pyrénées, overlooking a lake with views of the mountains. On the edge of the village of Puivert in the Languedoc Roussillon region, this is an idyllic spot for those wanting peace and quiet. Alternatively, for those more energetic, this is an ideal location for swimming, walking, mountain biking or skiing – the house is 30 minutes from the Camurac ski station. The Mediterranean and Andorra are around an hour away. This could also be an ideal base for house hunting in the area. The front is south facing with an enclosed garden and furniture to enjoy meals al fresco. The house is on two levels offering on the ground floor: A large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. A small twin bedroom and games room with table tennis, table football, dartboard etc. A large entrance hall with stairs leading to… On the first floor there is an open plan fully equipped kitchen/dining room, plenty of cupboards, large fridge/freezer, gas cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, with two sets of French windows to the balcony, which overlooks the village, lake mountains and Chateau of Puivert one of the Cathar Castles. The double aspect lounge, with French windows to the balcony, has sofas, free-to-air satellite TV and an open fireplace. There are two double bedrooms and one twin room. Separate bathroom and wc. The house has central heating. There is parking at the front of the property, and a garden to three sides. Weekly bookings commence on Saturday at 4pm. Guests are asked to vacate the house by 10am the following Saturday. Bed linen is included in the rental price but we do ask you to bring your own towels. |

An ideal location for the country lover. La Maison Pannique has a folder full of brochures and leaflets providing information on all the local attractions which include – the numerous Cathare Châteaux in the region including the 14th Century Château and Museum in the village; the historic towns of Perpignan and the medieval walled city of Carcassonne; numerous nature parks (eg Wolf sanctuary at Ax-les-Thermes, birds of prey centre at Carcassonne, Safari Park at Sigean and butterfly garden at Lesparrou); Tax free shopping in Andorra; Thermal baths; Vineyards – Corbieres and Minervois are the local wines; Waterfalls (Cascade des Anglais); St Martin du Canigou monastery; and the numerous blue flag beaches on the Mediterranean ranging from the quiet and secluded to the more bustling well equipped for water sports. In the village there is a bar, restaurant, bakers, post office and shop. For those more sporty, there is a tennis court, and a clean and quiet lake for swimming only 2 minutes walk away, mountain biking; golfing, horse riding, hiking in the nearby countryside and forest, gliding, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, climbing, caving and of course skiing/winter sports. |

By air: The house is approximately 1 hour from the following airports with easy access from the UK through London Stansted and East Midlands to Carcassonne or Perpignan with Ryanair, or to Toulouse with Buzz. By car: 5 hours from Bilbao (P&O, Portsmouth); 6 hours from Santander (Brittany Ferries, Plymouth); 8 hours from St Malo (Brittany Ferries, Portsmouth); 9 hours from Le Havre (P&O, Portsmouth), Caen (Brittany Ferries, Portsmouth) and Dieppe (Hoverspeed, Newhaven); 10 hours from Cherbourg (P&O, Portsmouth) and Calais (Eurotunnel and ferries). Ask us about discounts on the Euro Tunnel and ferry routes. By train: to Perpignan with Eurostar or the TGV from Paris takes about 5 hours Detailed directions for finding us will be sent on confirmation of booking. |
