An oak staircase gives access to the first floor and the main living room and kitchen, which in turn leads to the first floor terrace with its fine views over the medieval area, château and countryside. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, full cooker, and microwave, refrigerator and enough of 'everything' for four people. Furniture on the terrace is for four people - barbecue included.
The cité of Sarlat, famous for its goose market and now as a backdrop for films, is just 17 kms away. The market with the bright parasols and with just as colourful characters selling their wares and local produce, is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Sometimes a little crowded, but worth a visit to taste the wines, foie gras and strawberries of this region. Sarlat is full of fine architecture, it is nice to wander around the lanes and maybe stop at a café for coffee or a glass of something stronger and watch time go by.
Restaurants are everywhere, from the ordinary 12 euros for a 3 course menu, to Michelin star quality. The local restaurant (one minute's walk from the house) serves good quality food with good service, but our local best restaurant (10 minutes in the car) is well worth a visit - and it won't break the bank! The light wines of Bergerac and the heavier wines of Bordeaux and Cahors are readily available at prices to suit everyone's pocket.
